FUNKA BLAK A..K.A. L-SCRATCH
How it Came to Be...
I HAD AND AM STILL STRUGGLING TO COME OUT AND SHOW THE WORLD MY TALENTS. Well it's like this, I was always into music and hip hop was always in ma veins---ever since the break-dance era. I used to break at parties and stuff to get money to go buy candies. I remember the first rap video I saw was "I'm Bad" by LL Cool J. I was like "I gotta be on the tube like that," rapping that is. In 1990 I started rappin', but it wasn't until "93 that I really got to put my voice in a DAT. Yeah I got to record at a studio. A couple of my friends and I, we recorded a track called "WIll Play Ur Mom the Okey Dokes". Immediately people loved that track and asked us to enter a local contest, so we came up with name "NO NAME". This was because we actually had no name, so 'No Name' it was.
School and stuff made us separate and the group died. I for instance left for Illadelph and became a DJ at my university, Lasalle. I put the mic down for a while but I was still involved with another element of hip hop, Deejaying-- "the art of making music with music". I rocked the crowd for a while until I moved to MD and dj'ed at clubs in the DC area for a year. At that time, I was saving and buying equipment for my little studio. In 1999 K.A.Z. Records came into existence. K.A.Z. RECORDS is the most promising and soon to be biggest underground record label there ever was. So be on the look out.......Peace!!!!

REALITY
"I wuz born in the South Bronx and hip hop wuz big at the time. My brother Ken wuz a graf-writer and I use to break on the linoleum. I wuz basically raised with a musical background & family. I use to collect the "Maestro Mike" mixtapes in the eighties. In 1985, I remember beatboxing for my uncle when he ripped the mic at family reunions. The tables are turned now. Ever since I moved to Maryland, I got serious on the mic. I feel music is part of my everyday life and an expession of how I feel. They use to call me Mr. Roberts. Mr. R.O.B.E.R.T.S. stood for 'Rhymin Over Beats Expressing REALITY To Shine.' When I rhyme, it's about the way I feel and everything about it is a Reality. Now-a-days, you can call me Reality!"

KILLAH VOCALS
I wuz introduced to K.A.Z. through Reality. Reality and I have been good friends for a long time, we also work together. Reality invited me to L-Scratch's house on a chill tip. When we got there, L-Scratch wuz workin on a beat and I just rhymed to it. L-Scratch wuz feelin me so he invited me back to do a track with Combined Styles. Ever since, they recruited me as a new member of the group and it's been on ever since. So no doubt, K.A.Z. for the new century!

CRAIN & COBRA
These two cats lived in Severn, MD their whole lives; however, they didn't meet each other until high school. At Old Mill High, everybody would battle in sessons at the lunch table. Crain & Cobra were the best in the school, but they never seen each other or even heard one another. One day, Cobra decided to skip class to attend Crain's lunch period just to battle. They finally got their chance to battle and everybody couldn't stop geekin cuz both of them wuz rippin nice!! After the session, they hooked up as Crain & Cobra. It's a perfect match since both of their styles compliment each other on the real!

ISLAND MEN
This group consists of two members, PolyPoly and PhonicEMCEE. Poly got serious about hip hop after he hooked up with Crain & Cobra on a track called "Professional Mic Snatchers." Ever since then, he's been movitated to hit the pen & pad. The name Poly came into effect because he wants to rep for his polynesian roots. There's not too many polyneisan cats out there, so he wants to put them on the map. Phonic EMCEE is reppin for all the Asians out there. Poly and Phonic EMCEE hooked up after a couple freestyle sessions at his crib. Phonic chose his name because he's Philipino and his hair looks like Sonic (the hedgehog). Put those two together, you get Phonic (EMCEE).

Reality is bringin it to verse after vese. His laid back Hip Hop style tells it like it is.
